Basic Japanese Vocabulary #10-1 : color -色(いろ)-

Today, We will study Basic Japanese vocabulary related to “nature ” in your town that will appear on the JLPT N5. Use infographics, flashcards, and practice tests to study effectively. Get ready!

Note: See how it modifies nouns

The names of colors are summarized here, especially important colors. Basic color names are also given in the JLPT.And the key is how to connect the colors to the nouns. This is introduced in this issue of Nihongo, which is easy to mistake.

See the table above.Colors except green can be transformed into adjectives by adding “い” to the color name. Conversely, colors except these five colors cannot be turned into adjectives. For example, colors such as ”むらさき”(purple) and “オレンジ(orange)” modify nouns by adding “の” to their names, just as green does.
